Ultimately, it depends on your intention.
Are you trying to work with your stress and anxiety? Do you have issues with your sleep, or are you just trying to use meditation for your spiritual advancement?
There are many apps available. Each app I recommend stands out for different reasons, so I’ll share what makes each one unique and why you might consider it.
And I’m gonna share my personal favorite app that I use every single day.
Calm
The first one is calm.
Calm is especially effective if your main goal is relaxation, stress management, and improved sleep quality. Its soothing interface and sleep stories are highly praised. It is designed to help you with your stress, anxiety, and especially sleep. Because I’ve heard a lot of people use Calm for the sleep stories.
It comes with a 7-day free trial and costs around 76.99 Canadian dollars per year. You can also choose or go for the lifetime option, which lets you pay once. And you can use the app for your whole life, right, it’s a lifetime option.
The lifetime option is about $500. They also have some business plans. So if you are looking for a wellness program for your team or your company.
Their business plans may also suit the team's needs.
Headspace
The next one is headspace.
It offers a 7-day free trial. And then it’s around 17.99 Canadian dollars per month, and then 89.99 per year.
Headspace, while more expensive, offers a structured, organized approach with themed courses that guide you through mindfulness step by step.
It covers topics like stress, anxiety, focus, and mindfulness. Try it if you want guided mindfulness steps.
It's also good for learning meditation.
10% Happier
The next one is 10% happier.
There’s also a book by Dan Harris with the same name. The app features 500+ guided meditations. It’s another app with more than 500 guided meditations. You can also find stories, inspirational talks, and podcast-style meditations.
It's included with the free version, but it’s very limited. But you can also go for the premium version.
Premium costs $14.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
Insight Timer
The next one is Insight Timer.
Insight Timer is like "YouTube for meditations."
I really like this app because it covers a range of topics.
For example: stress, anxiety, focus, law of attraction, manifestation, EFT tapping, chakra healing, and so much more.
The best thing about Insight Timer is that it’s free. You can access all meditations anytime.
But there is also a premium version that gives you access to their courses.
And it is around 60 USD per year, or 78.99 Canadian per year.
I think it’s a great investment, and the best part of this app is the 30-day free trial.
So you can use the app and decide whether you really want to.
The Verdict
All these meditation apps offer unique strengths. But it totally depends on the person.
Because some people are really picky about the user interface.
So I think if you really want some sleep stories, Calm is the best option. If you really want to learn Mindfulness step by step, then I would say sign up for Headspace.
But my personal favorite is Insight Timer.
Maybe you’re just looking to have a little bit of practice. You’re trying to figure out which meditation style is best for you.I think this is a great option, Insight Timer.
